Given that, for most of us, owning a home is an essential part of the so-called American Dream, wouldn’t it make sense for qualified potential homebuyers to know and seriously consider where they could expect to live/reside? There is no simple, one-size-fits-all method of doing this, so it would be wise to seriously consider and address what factors should be considered, in terms of where you should buy your potential home! After more than 15 years as a licensed real estate seller in New York State, I have seriously considered these factors and consider 5 to be the most important. With that in mind, this article will briefly attempt to consider, examine, review, and discuss five important considerations that every prospective buyer should take into account before purchasing a specific home, in a specific location.
1. Schools/education: One of the key components of potential buyers’ perception of where to buy and live is the quality of the local public school system and the education their children could receive. Even those kids outside of school age should look into this, because it has a huge impact on the potential, future, value/resale price of your home!
two. Transportation: How important is the convenience of transportation to you to travel to work? As you think about it, understand, even if it isn’t, it can be, when it comes time to sell, in the future! How accessible are roads and highways to areas that might be popular with you and your family, etc.? What are the local roads like? What about traffic and road conditions? Are they safe, well-designed, and useful in terms of making your life easier and less stressful?
3. Safety: One of the important things, which should never be overlooked, is the overall safety/crime rates in your specific area, neighborhood and location! How quickly do the police generally respond to emergency calls? What is the local fire department and ambulance squad like? If you don’t feel safe and secure, you will never be completely happy and/or satisfied living there!
Four. Houses of worship: Even if you are not strictly religious etc, do not ignore the availability of Houses of Worship and if there is a diversity of types. These institutions often become important and positive foundations for the community and offer a variety of desirable options and events.
5. Mod cons: Drive around and consider a variety of amenities. These should include: shopping; restaurants; service stations; professionals (doctors, dentists, veterinarians, etc.).
Take a look at the bigger picture when making this important decision about where to live. Will you make wise decisions?
