Diving equipment is needed to make visiting the underwater world a safe and comfortable experience. The diving equipment helps you in the transition from a terrestrial being to a marine one. The basic requirements when diving underwater are clear vision, the ability to swim, and the ability to breathe. In addition to these, you also need to keep your body at a comfortable temperature.
Let us now see some of the basic diving equipment:
1. Diving:
It is a self-contained underwater breathing apparatus. This allows the diver to move freely underwater. It can breathe independently of surface supply underwater. This device basically consists of diving bottles that are high pressure cylinders that contain large volumes of compressed air.
2. Exposure protection:
When diving underwater, the diver needs protection from water and protection from scrapes, cuts, etc. This is provided by the wetsuit, dry suit, and body suit.
3. Diving mask:
A diving mask is an important part of diving equipment. You should select a mask that fits you well. This is because the mask is responsible for providing clear vision underwater.
4. Diving purposes:
Fins selected must be those that are specifically designed for diving purposes only. These will help you and your team move effortlessly.
5. Dive computer:
A dive computer considers depth and time information. Using this data in a decompression model, it tracks the level of dissolved nitrogen in your body during the dive. On this basis, it can tell you how much safe dive time you have left.
6. Regulator:
It is a device that regulates the amount of air that reaches you from your diving bottle. This makes your breathing comfortable.
7. Buoyancy compensation device:
It is a device that gives you complete control of movement underwater. You may want to kneel down, stand in the background, or just go with the flow. A buoyancy control device allows you to comfortably take any position underwater.
8. Diving accessories:
Some of the popular accessories used are dive knives, underwater lights, whistles, surface buoys, etc. For underwater signaling, tank firecrackers and water boards are used.
9. Weight system:
For a smooth descent into the water, a diver needs a weight system. A weight system also helps regulate buoyancy underwater.
Diving equipment can be rented or purchased. However, it is a good idea to purchase the mask, suit, and fins. This is because the mask needs to fit snugly to ensure good vision underwater. The fins should also be the right size. A dry suit/wet suit/body suit should be purchased for a good fit as well as for hygiene reasons.
Once you have purchased your complete dive gear, you are ready to dive.
