Dogs Eat Bread is Safe or Not
Many people believe that dogs can’t have bread because they don’t digest it well. However dogs can actually eat certain kinds of bread with no problem. Yes and no. Dogs can consume small amounts of brown or white bread, but only as the occasional treat. Other kinds that can be toxic to dogs and could contain added calories such as macadamia nuts, walnuts and others are high in saturated fat, which is not good for dogs at all.
The reason why this belief is not true is that there are certain kinds of wheat that dogs can tolerate quite well. One of the most common kinds of wheat intolerance in dogs is a wheat allergy. When dogs are allergic to wheat, it means that their bodies are irritated when they come in contact with any part of the grain, including the skin of the grain. These kinds of allergies can be very severe, and the dogs may get a rash. However if the dogs have a mild allergy to wheat, they may eat small amounts without any problem. If the dogs have a more severe allergy to wheat, they could become malnourished, develop vomiting and bloating, and in extreme cases could even die.
If you have any concerns about whether or not your canine can digest a particular kind of wheat, you should check the ingredients of the treats you feed him. Most pet diets today are hypo-allergenic, meaning that the ingredients aren’t going to cause an allergic reaction. This means that you can feed your pooch a wide variety of treats, including hypo-allergenic treats, and he’ll be fine. Just remember that feeding your dog a special diet due to dietary issues could be dangerous.
Can Dogs Eat Bread?
If you do find out that your dog cannot digest wheat, you may also need to make sure he doesn’t get some other kinds of allergies, such as those to his fleas. Some dogs seem prone to allergies to flea saliva, and if you keep them outside in the hot summer months, this could be a problem. To avoid having to deal with this, keep your dogs indoors all summer long. You can also try using garlic to help keep fleas away. Garlic will repel many insects, and it’s also been shown to boost the immune system so your dog can stay healthier.
If you find that your dog has a wheat allergy, don’t panic. He probably won’t have an immediate problem, and you can ease his symptoms with antihistamines and other medications. In more severe cases, you might have to switch to a wheat free diet for a while, until you can figure out what’s causing his allergy. If he does start having stomach problems after a few days, however, you should take him to the vet, who can get him to a point where he can digest wheat without problems.
While dogs can technically digest nuts without problems, they often have an adverse reaction to the way they are digested. They can have problems like vomiting, diarrhea or constipation, and even blackouts if they ingest too much of the nut. Even if your dog only has a mild allergic reaction to raw macadamia nuts or another kind of nut, he may not be able to tolerate being around a lot of the stuff. There are commercial brands of nut butters that are less toxic, and you can use them instead if you want to give him a snack that’s less likely to cause a problem.
