Positive Thought
Positive thoughts are those which make you feel great about progress. Take some time out to compliment yourself on all the little accomplishments you have made in the past. It’s important to constantly think about what you feel and how it’s portrayed in life. Try to capture yourself think a positive thought, and quickly say STOP to refocus yourself onto positive thoughts. This will make the process much easier. Try doing this exercise daily when you notice yourself getting negative.
It’s important to take a moment to realize that both optimism and pessimism exist in everyone. When you choose to see the bright side of the situation, you’re also choosing to look at the dark side. In order to overcome pessimism you need to learn how to embrace all the positivity that does exist in your life, as well as the bad things that inevitably happen. When you have the ability to see both sides of the coin, you can more easily identify where your negative traits come from. By being aware of the bad, you can work on eliminating them.
You have a choice with this one. If you want to get into positive thinking, you must first identify all the negative thoughts and feelings that you currently experience. Then, you should take some time to reflect on all the positivity that you have identified. I have found that this helps me to see the silver lining in even the worst of situations. This is where the beauty of positive psychology shines through.
Happiness is Not a State of Mind – It Is Something Else
Once you understand how to separate the good from the bad, you’ll be able to begin working on replacing those negative thoughts with positive ones. Think about all of the great times you’ve had in the past, and then start to think about those times in a positive manner. Imagine all of the great people you met that day. You could also talk about how beautiful the weather outside is, or the fact that you will soon have enough love and power to move on past any negatives that may come with the new stage of your life.
The difference between the good side and the bad side of human nature is usually just one thing. We are not very good at separating the good from the bad. Although we know there are bad people in the world, we don’t have the ability to look at their behavior objectively. We rely on labels to explain the complicated nature of the world. We depend on our cultural assumptions about what is good and bad. It is up to each of us to find the ability to detach ourselves from the negative aspects of the world and create a positive space that welcomes all people.
This detachment can be difficult to do, but it is something good to strive for. If you can get to the point where you are happy with both sides of your personality, then you have reached a state of optimism. When you find yourself looking at the world in the same way on both sides, you will find that you have more optimism. When you think optimistically, you will find that you have less chance of experiencing sadness or negativity.
