This project is fun, easy, and simple, which is exactly what we need in this crazy and hectic life we lead! All you need for these pretty decorations are items that you keep on hand. Scraps of felt, fabrics, and decorations left over from other projects are perfect for these Christmas stocking decorations.
Materials:
Sock insole
Felt and fabric scraps
Scraps and scraps of ribbon, trims, lace, and gimp
Beads, jewelry, sequins, antique bracelets, buttons, and whatever embellishments you would like to see on your tree.
Three-dimensional gloss paint
Glue gun
Needle and thread
Pair of scissors
Basic method:
Draw your mean on a sheet of paper. Any shape you want in two sizes, 2×4 inches and 3×6 inches. However, these measurements do not have to be exact. Your design can be anything you like, the toe can be rounded or pointed like elf stockings, and of course you can make as many templates as you want and then put them in an envelope for future use. Lay the template on the fabric and cut two. Sew around the middle leaving the top open. You can hand sew, blanket sew, machine sew, or when you are in a rush you can glue the two sections together along the inside edges. When using the hot glue gun, be careful not to burn your fingers. Now you can start to embellish your sock. Start by making a loop with a short piece of ribbon and sew or glue the loop to the top corner of your sock, with the raw edge on the inside. We want everything to look professional because you may be giving them away too. Add velvet ribbons or beautiful embellishments along the top of the stocking. You can sew on beads or attach old brooches (that are not too heavy). Create your own designs. Try using three-dimensional glues and glitter paints. Paint small stars, circles, or dots on your socks. Paint or 3-d glue takes about 24 hours to dry. These cute stockings can be made in sets of 2, 4, or more. I also made a complete fireplace mantel set in mix and match color themes.
They look adorable and I put them on year after year.
Merry Christmas
