Metal Gear Solid 4 is the best-selling video game on the PlayStation 3 (recently achieving ‘Platinum’ status), created by Konami. You play the role of ‘Old Snake’, a long time war hero, who is rapidly aging due to the Fox Die he received in MGS1. So what is Metal Gear Solid 4 Limited Edition? It is essentially the same video game as MGS4: Guns of the Patriots, but with a few additional additions.
It was released at the same time as the original game, and as a collector’s item, for hardcore fans. While it costs more than the regular package, the added bonuses justify it. First of all, you receive a box full of illustrations about the game, beautifully created by Yoji Shinkawa. Next, you’ll get a copy of the game’s soundtrack (which is actually pretty rare), as well as two making-of documentaries on Blu-ray Disc. Lastly, you will receive a 6-inch tall Old Snake figure in his ‘Olive Drab’ camo. Limited editions are rarely released, so when they do, there’s always a lot of buzz around them. In fact, almost every limited edition game that has been released has turned out to be a huge bestseller.
The Metal Gear Solid 4 Limited Edition Box was originally available from Game.com, Electronics Boutique, and GameStop. It is now available in select PS3 bundles and can be purchased together with an 80GB or 40GB PlayStation 3 bundle. There is an even more limited edition PlayStation 3 that can be purchased in ‘Gunmetal Grey’, instead of black, when purchased together with Metal Gear Solid 4 Limited Edition. Right now this bundle is out of stock everywhere, though Sony has announced on their website that more may be in production, so keep your fingers crossed!
