If you have a Sony Vaio laptop and you tried to replace the battery with a non-genuine one, you may get a window with this warning:
Attention
The battery cannot be connected to your computer properly or may not be compatible with your computer.
Click “OK” to enter hibernation mode, remove and reinsert the battery.
See the VAIO(R)e User Guide for more information on using the battery.
This is very inconvenient, and if you click “OK”, the laptop goes into hibernation mode. Also, there is the option to close the message and it is in other programs, even if you click on a program in the background, the message will dominate your screen again in a few seconds.
However, if this happened to you, don’t worry. Although Sony Vaio laptops have software that checks whether the battery is original or not, you can disable it using the following procedure:
Window close warning
– Right-click on the toolbar and select Start Task Manager (or the shortcuts Ctrl Shift Esc or Ctrl Shift Del depends on the operating system);
– Click on the Processes tab;
– Look for the ISBMgr.exe process and click End Process.
There the window with the message disappears and you can use your laptop normally. However, the warning appears every time you restart the laptop again. To disable it, you should definitely follow the procedure below.
Disable autorun ISBMgr.exe
– Access the Start Menu, Run;
– Type msconfig and press ok;
– Select the Home tab;
– Find and uncheck ISB Utility and press OK to exit (you can restart your computer now or later, it doesn’t matter).
Done! The program is disabled and now you can use it with a brand new generic battery without paying 1/2 laptop price for it!
Taking a hint, you can use this setting to disable startup programs, which are programs that run in the background when Windows starts. Some programs seem to be faster this way, however they are taking up memory, the most common being disabling Acrobat.
Although it is now possible to use an aftermarket battery in your laptop, check before you buy! Always use a battery that is compatible with your laptop model. I am not responsible for any physical, personal, psychological or emotional damage that may occur due to misuse of the battery or the laptop itself, I just gave advice that worked for me, using this procedure is at your own risk!
