Skoda Superb has been reborn thanks to Volkswagen designers who have named this flagship car of the Skoda family after the luxurious Skoda Superb of the 1930s. It shares its platform with the successful WV Passat model. Dubbed the executive car, current models include a 1.8L I4 Turbo as a standard engine. The most powerful gasoline and diesel engines include the 2.8L V6 30v and 2.5L V6 TDI, respectively.

A recent facelift offers new radiator grille, headlights, repeating side markers and C-shaped taillights. As part of the facelift project, the interior panel is outfitted with real wood and includes extras that were once the hallmark of the Skoda Superb original. Using a transverse engine layout, the new B6 comes with a fuel stratified injection turbocharged engine that can be upgraded to a powerful 191kw 3.6L FSI VR6 version, reducing fuel consumption. For car enthusiasts who prefer even more power, Skoda engineers now offer an optional direct-shift gearbox with 6- or 7-speed transmissions in all trim combinations. These trim levels are classified as Comfort, Ambition and Elegance in Europe, however in the UK they are marketed as S, SE, Elegance and Greenline. A 5-door Combi family model was already presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show. This version of the Skoda family cars is made for car owners who prefer luxury and more space for passengers.
B6 models
Produced in the Czech Republic and India, the 2008 Skoda Superb B6 contains 4motion four-wheel drive that is equipped with more advanced technology and constitutes top-of-the-line petrol engines like the 3.6 L VR6 FSI 4×4. Similarly, powerful diesel variants have also been reintroduced to include the 1.9L I4 TDI PD DPF Greenline and 2.0L I4 TDI CR DPF. It seems that the Skoda Superb designers are hell-bent on offering even more options. Its motifs are expressed in the classic ‘Laurin and Klement’ model which derives its characteristics not only from the original Skoda masterpiece but also from Rolls Royce. Like the Rolls Royce, it includes components like a hidden umbrella in the rear door panel.
Starting from 2008, the first generation of Skoda Superb ceased to be produced. Instead, the B6 is offered in 5-door hatchback sedan or 5-door estate versions. Based on the Volkswagen Group A5 PQ35 platform, the new version is slightly longer and wider than its predecessor. Fortunately, a slight price difference shouldn’t limit loyal Skoda buyers from taking advantage of the latest frenzy in the Czech Republic and other Eastern European markets.
