In astrology, the Sun and Saturn are considered enemies of each other. Gods or demigods cannot behave like mortals. So we have to analyze the concept of enemies in its proper context and meanings. The Sun is the truth, the Sun is Knowledge; The sun is light. It is the place where our ancestors would finally go. After vasu and rudra, where our parents are believed to have attained the state and received pinda from us, the last loka or state comes Aditya. Vasu rupe~, Rudra rupe~ and finally Aditya Rupe~.. The Sun is the embodiment of all gods. He is the greatest. He is the destroyer of sins.
The concept of sin is coterminous with the life we live in this world. Past actions that are sinful in our past lives result in miseries in this present world. The miseries depend on the degree of sins we committed in our past lives. There are two gods that are credited with the quality of destroying sins. First of all – Lord Shiva. Secondly, the demigod Sun. It is easier to pray to Lord Shiva and wash away our past sins. But the second way is more difficult. Adithya is no easier to please. He is a strict disciplinarian. In the first and easiest way to please Lord Shiva, there are chances that we will commit sins again. But the second and harder path is final.
It is born from the ultimate truth, knowledge and karma. It is this difficult path that Rishis choose when doing tapasya. (For a detailed study – see concept of sin). Step by step one attains the state of Aditya and his material life comes to an end, which is the goal of all truth seekers. It is freedom from the slavery of birth and rebirths. It is the attainment of divinity.
The sun burns everything. Our ignorance, our beliefs, our knowledge, which are born of lies, images, maya, that Rahu throws on our worlds. Knowledge and beliefs are so ingrained and entrenched in our minds, in our actions, that we refuse to believe in the ultimate truth. We are programmed to take shelter under clouds, false ceilings, like a frog taking shelter under a snake. This state of mind and our actions are created and developed by Saturn. Saturn is the representative of our false refuge. He creates Maya through Rahu. All dirt, whether in the mind or in our physical presence in this world, is Saturn’s abode. He will not direct us to the path of truth, knowledge and God. He creates falls, pits and blindness, so that we eternally revolve around and around this maya. This maya is so powerful and strong that even the mighty Sun cannot escape.
So the two fields’ planes of operation are quite different. The concepts of Sun and Saturn are directly opposite each other. Both act according to our past actions or karma. They are not enemies of each other. Because no two gods have feelings of hate or love. They are above all those trivial behaviors. They are above such pettiness. They act according to their nature. Both are necessary embodiments of this mundane life. The sun is the enemy of ignorance, falsehood, indiscipline and maya. The Saturn is the enemy of light, discipline, truth and knowledge. Saturn is the Mayan creator.
All these qualities are the embodiments of mortal lives in this world; and definitely not the qualities of the Sun or Saturn. In this way, both are complementary and complementary to each other. They are not enemies; But the gods acting in tandem, in harmony. One picks up where the other ends. They are the enemies of certain actions of mortals. It is the mortal who chooses his action. If one tries sincerely, painfully and disciplined, it is Saturn who is most pleased and removes the curtain of Maya from the path of seeking the truth. Then the Sun condones and destroys previous sins and shows the path of liberation through its light.
