Our family finally decided to visit Washington DC We drove into the city so we could take the Monument Series tour, which is free and we only have to pay tips. It was actually a budget tour. We lived in New York, so we had to get up early. When we arrived, it was 8:00 am. It was September 12, 2010, a rainy Sunday morning. Even though it was raining, we were all excited. Due to bad weather, there were few people there. Fortunately though, we have a good tour guide. He is a graceful man. After dad parked our car, he took us on a tour. He is very informative. He patiently explained to us the history of the monuments. Although he wasn’t good at history, he had to admit that he might be interested in history if he was my history teacher.
After having visited some monuments, we went to visit the White House. The tour guide asked us many interesting questions, for example, who was the tallest president? The fattest? the oldest? the youngest? Actually, he was very knowledgeable. We spent some time taking photos in front of those attractions, and the tour guide even took several photos of our family. In addition, we also went to visit the Einstein memorial. So everyone got a great photo sitting on Einstein’s lap. That’s really interesting and fun! At the base of the Lincoln Memorial, we had a bathroom break and had some snacks. We end our tour of Washington DC near the Washington Monument. And then we had a fancy lunch in a nice restaurant. On the way to New York, I slept the whole way. Among all the attractions, I like the Paseo del Pueblo tour and the Pentagon tour. We did a lot of walking during our tour so next time I would never forget to wear a comfortable pair of shoes. In addition, I also bought a new umbrella, since it was raining on the day of my tour. Everyone needs to see Washington DC I have learned many things that I did not know before and I love this country more.
