Have you been struggling to lose weight? Frustrated by your lack of results?
Did you know that the problem might not be you OR the diet? It could be a bad combination between the “personality” of your diet and the diet you are following.
Diets are like shoes: some fit a little too wide, some are too narrow in the toe box, and some, to quote Goldilocks, are perfect.
A pair of well-fitting shoes is worth its weight in gold (a fact that will become even clearer to you ladies as you get older).
And just like shoes, a diet that fits you well is also worth its weight in gold. A proper diet facilitates weight loss, gives you energy and excites you with your new slimmer and healthier body.
So how can you find the right fit for your dietary personality? Here are 3 questions to ask yourself to find the right fit for you.
#1. How Much Time Do You Want To Give Your Diet/Food/Preparation?
Are you someone who loves spending time in the kitchen? Do you love shopping for fresh ingredients and then spending a few hours experimenting over a hot stove?
If so, then you’re probably more of a DIYer. You may need to read up on a certain diet philosophy (like the paleo diet or a raw diet or a vegan diet, for example) and then learn how to cook delicious meals that fit that diet.
However, if you are someone who absolutely detests cooking, or simply doesn’t have time to shop for all the different ingredients, then you may be better off with a pre-made diet.
For example, you may want to try a diet delivery service, or even a meal replacement diet where everything is done for you.
You can then eat your meals and get on with your life while losing weight.
#two. Suffering from diet trauma?
Unfortunately, this is something many of us suffer from: years of diet-induced trauma have made us hate the very idea of deprivation and carrot sticks for dinner.
We don’t want to go on a diet because we imagine weeks living on food that tastes like cardboard without a crumb of anything remotely delicious.
If that’s you, then you need to go with a diet plan that allows you to have treats, whatever those treats are for you.
For example, I know a lady who absolutely cannot live without chocolate every day. There are various diet plans for that.
Another friend of mine simply refuses to live without her glass of wine; there is also a plan for that.
And maybe you just don’t want to eat a meal that tastes remotely like a diet meal (high diet trauma). So maybe a gourmet fresh food delivery service can ease your pain there.
The bottom line is that we believe that diets mean deprivation, so we start already defeated. Do not let yourself be defeated, be strategic.
And add luxury and pampering to your weight loss plan before you start.
#3. How much weight do you want to lose and how fast?
There is always a trade-off between calories and rapid weight loss. For example, a meal replacement diet can generate about 1,200 calories per day, and you lose weight very quickly. But food is not gourmet if you know what I mean (protein bars and shakes, soups, oatmeal, etc.)
Whereas a regular diet plan where you prepare full meals, or make them for yourself, can deliver between 1500 and 1600 calories per day. This way you will lose weight, but at a slower rate. But the food will taste better.
So what are you willing to give up to reach your goal in the desired time frame?
Some people need to lose weight as fast as possible. So it’s okay for them to make a few sacrifices here or there.
Other people appreciate a slow and steady pace, so they have time to get used to the change in eating habits, portion sizes, etc. So it depends again on your personality.
Those are 3 questions to ask yourself to get an idea of the unique personality of your diet. The good news is that today there are many dietary options to suit your needs. So go ahead and find the most suitable and effective weight loss plan for you!
