Introduction: This is a book about different generational approaches to work, money and education. The authors share their personal stories; They expect you to review your principles and lifestyle and perhaps those of your children, your parents, your neighbors or people who live on the other side of the world. They hope to inspire you to be more open to accepting people whose experiences may be different from your own.
Chapter 1: I just want to make a difference
I think you and I can agree that we all want to make a difference in the lives of others. We want to create a life that adds value to those around us. This is a passion that I know I want for myself and for those around me. I was born in the 1960s and used to think as the author did that success is a steady job, a big salary with benefits, a home, and a secure retirement plan. Today I just want to make a difference! In my family, everyone thinks that having the same job for more than 30 years is honorable. I guess I’m the rebel and never did this. In fact, I am underestimated. This is what motivates me to try anything and everything to prove that one job just isn’t going to cut it in today’s markets. What about you? If we look at celebrities we see that several went from doing menial work to becoming famous. For example, Lucille Ball was fired from an ice cream parlor for not remembering to add bananas to a banana split. Tom Hanks started out as a popcorn and peanut vendor at the Oakland Coliseum in California. The list goes on and on. If they can do it, why can’t you or me?
What are you doing right now to make the world a better, more peaceful and loving place?
What is the one job that stands out on your journey to get to where you are today? What are some of the lessons you have learned that you want to share with the world?
Remember that when you have lost everything, God is up to something. Blessings are just around the corner. More can be gained by focusing on those talents and gifts you know
God has given you. Focus on what you are moving and not what you are moving away from. Be authentically you and let God use you. The bottom line is that we can all choose our attitude and change our negative beliefs and this is the beginning of a wonderful awareness that will bring the answers to the passions in your life.
Chapter 2: Where do I find safety?
This chapter tells us as soon as you line up where they expect you to be at a certain time in the morning; Now you have given up your freedom. As soon as you demand a guaranteed income, you have given up on open income possibilities. Because I love freedom and want to have more of it, I’m looking for my own passions as we speak. I may not understand why my sister has been in the same job for over 30 years and she may not understand why I change jobs like a diaper, but we do the right thing in our own lives anyway. Make a difference in the lives of others by being a computer programmer and Linux expert. I make a difference in the lives of others by doing more than one talent and my favorite is doing book reviews like this for authors who provide the book and some for free. My passion is reading and reviewing books is also one of my passions. The market is huge, authors need reviews from others, and I prove my worth by making them free for two years. Now I have authors contact me and offer to pay me. Okay, I had to do this for two years to get my experience out on the world wide web.
It took time. I believe that anything that takes time will add value in the long run. If you want to find your life’s passion, this book by Dan Miller will help you open doors.
