Many people find it difficult to fry food due to the high temperature that must be used. It can also be difficult if you can’t control frying oil from splashing onto your hands and body. Fear not because there are some frying tricks.
The key to proper frying is using the proper temperature and the proper frying oil. Many chefs would say that it is best to use vegetable oil. This is because it has a higher smoke point and remains constant.
Just combine the same foods with the same oil for frying. In other words, fry the fries only in the frying oil that you have prepared. Don’t also fry the donuts in the same oil because it will affect the taste. Leftover frying oil can stick to food.
Cook the same size portion in a frying pan. If you are the type of person who prefers to fry, you know that frying is easier when all the pieces are roughly the same size. You will only remove the batch once all the pieces are evenly cooked. If there are small pieces, they can be burned during the cooking process of larger pieces of food.
When you’re frying in a pan or deep-bottom frying, you need to have the correct tools and cookware. An apron will protect your clothes from staining if the oil starts to splatter. Have a long-handled strainer or drainage utensil handy. This is a good idea because your hands will not be as close to the hot oil in case of splashes. The best utensil for deep frying is a slotted spoon or spider.
Gently place the food in the pot, skillet, or deep fryer. Throwing it away will cause a sizzling oil rash that could hurt your hands and face. You also don’t want to cause too much discomfort because the temperature needs to be kept constant.
Crowding the pot or pan will result in a temperature drop and then it will become more difficult to handle. Keep the number of pieces in the pot to a minimum if you are a beginner. You should also stay calm when cooking in this style. Too much panic will distract you from foods that cook quickly. Also, do not abuse the oil for frying. After two or three uses, the oil needs to be thrown away because it eventually spoils.
The correct way to serve freshly fried foods is to make sure that excess oil is drained from the pieces. Too much oil left in the food softens the crunchiness that was intended. It’s also not nice to take a bite and just have oil dripping all over the place. Place a layer of towel in the bottom of a bowl, then remove the food from the frying oil and allow the towels to absorb excess oil.
